About Andy
I've
been practicing astrology for more than fifteen years. Trained by my
own mother, an unsung professional astrologer in her own right, I guess
you could say this is a family business. While astrology columnist for
Time Out Chicago Magazine (2005-2007), I found myself
constantly wondering whether I was serving my readers with the best
information I could give them.
While I love the work, and while I enjoy trying to interpret how each
sun sign will be affected by a given week's transits, I was always self-conscious
about how much I was forced to leave out, and I'm not just talking "word
counts." Knowing that there is so much more to a person's birth
chart than his/her sun sign, I had always wished I could write an individual
column for every single reader. Of course I figured that was impossible.
But one day, while contemplating the wonders of modern technology and
what is possible with the right software combination and a lot of hard
work, I came up with First Person Astrology--the Internet's only weekly,
personalized horoscope generator.
The fact that there is nothing else like it out here (yet) excites me
for sure. But I'm most excited about the idea of people really feeling
like they're getting something useful from their forecasts, and not
just amusement.
When they know which way the astrological winds are blowing, people
can feel empowered to make (or wait on) certain decisions. Using astrology
for your benefit is all about timing, and not at all about "destiny."
The cosmos controls nothing. It just makes certain things more or less
likely. When you realize that, astrology becomes much more than entertainment.
In another life I was a writer/performer in the Chicago theater scene
(more accurately, I was a member of The Neo-Futurists and did little
else.) I'm still a playwright in my spare time, but have decided to
dedicate most of my professional time to reinventing the weekly horoscope
as we know it.
